A standing room only crowd filled the Caltrain headquarters in San Carlos last week, as the rail line's Board of Directors held a public hearing on proposals for a massive schedule overhaul.
Board members heard from about 50 people during two hours of public testimony at the February 5 meeting, but took no action, said Caltrain spokeswoman Jayme Maltbie Kunz. The board is expected to act at its next meeting on March 4 at Caltrain headquarters in San Carlos, she said.
The new spring 2004 train schedule, which coincides with the introduction of "Baby Bullet" express train service, caused an uproar among Atherton train users. The proposed weekday schedule cuts train service to the town by more than one-third. There are four options for weekend service currently under consideration -- options A and B offer no train service to Atherton, while C and D do have regular stops at the town's historic train station.
Information about the proposed train schedules is available at www.caltrain.com.
