John Carcione tops Democratic fundraisers in Assembly race

John Carcione's campaign committee has raised $422,748 so far in his bid to win the Democratic nomination for the 21st District Assembly seat in the March 2 primary.
Mr. Carcione of Menlo Park, board president of the West Bay Sanitary District, is the top fundraiser among the four Democratic candidates, according to filings with the California Secretary of State's Office by the candidates' campaign committees.
The reported totals through February 14 for the other three Democratic candidates are: Ira Ruskin, Redwood City councilman, $232,714; John Barton, Palo Alto Unified School District board member, $144,156; and Barbara Nesbet, Monte Sereno city councilwoman, $82,109.
The committee for Steve Poizner, who is running unopposed for the Republican Party nomination, has raised $1,392,745, according to the filings.
These amounts do not include independent expenditures made in behalf of candidates from money raised outside the candidates' campaign committees.
