Meetings set on traffic issue Meetings set on traffic issue (February 25, 2004)

Anyone who has ideas for improving the clog of traffic that surges west from the Dumbarton Bridge every morning and returns across the Bay in the evening is invited to suggest solutions at two meetings coming up in Palo Alto and East Palo Alto.

Three agencies in San Mateo and Santa Clara counties are launching a study of roadway improvements that can reduce traffic congestion on approaches to the bridge, west of U.S. 101 between Redwood City and Mountain View.

The meetings to collect public input will take place Saturday, February 28, from 10 a.m. to noon in Palo Alto at Avenidas, 450 Bryant St.; and Wednesday, March 31, from 7 to 9 p.m. at East Palo Alto City Hall, 2415 University Ave.

The study is being conducted by the City/County Association of Governments of San Mateo County (C/CAG), the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority, and the San Mateo County Transportation Authority.

"We already know that the traffic congestion in this corridor is unacceptable," said Rich Napier, executive director of C/CAG.
