Author event Saturday in Menlo Author event Saturday in Menlo (March 03, 2004)

San Francisco author Craig J. Carrozzi will talk about his historical novel, "The Curse of Chief Tenaya," at the Menlo Park Library on Saturday, March 6, at 11 a.m.

The curse in the title refers to Chief Tenaya's revenge in behalf of the Sierra Miwoks, a Native American tribe of the Yosemite Valley that was driven out by settlers in the early 1890s. The novel tells the story of a man hunting for a grizzly bear that terrorizes the sheep and cattle herders setting up ranches on the Miwoks' formerly pristine lands.

Mr. Carrozzi is the author of five books, including a trilogy on South American adventure travel, for which he drew on his experiences as a Peace Corps volunteer.

The presentation is free, and will take place in the downstairs meeting room of the library, at 800 Alma St.

Free van service to the event is available for Menlo Park seniors and people with disabilities. For more information or to schedule transportation, call 330-2512.
