This information is from the Atherton and Menlo Park police departments and the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office. Under the law, people charged with offenses are considered innocent until convicted.
Atherton
Fight: Two students got into a fight and one suffered a possible broken jaw during the lunch break at Menlo-Atherton High School on March 9.
Possible fraud: A resident of the 100 block of Selby Lane said on March 11 that someone has been using the resident's social security number in order gain employment. The incident is being investigated to find out if this was a mistake made by the Franchise Tax Board or if it is a case of identity theft.
Auto burglaries. $20 in cash and tail-light assembly stolen, 100 block of Selby Lane, March 7.
Petty thefts: Stolen bicycle seat seen attatched to another bike, M-A High School, March 9.
Menlo Park
Battery on an officer: Dennis Albert, 63, kicked Officer Chris Egan in the chest while being arrested on charges of stealing items from a 7-11 convenience store near the intersection of Alma Street and Oak Grove Avenue on March 11. He was booked into county jail.
Vehicle accident: A pedestrian collided with a vehicle in the 300 block of Market Place on March 9. The person had a minor leg injury and was taken to Stanford Hospital for treatment.
Grand theft: Computer stolen, 500 block of Santa Cruz Avenue, March 8.
Fraud: Counterfeit bill passed, 900 block of El Camino Real, March 7. Counterfeit $100 bill passed, 1200 block of El Camino Real, March 8.
Vandalism: Vehicle window smashed, 1300 block of Chilco Street, March 5. Fence gate damaged, 2000 block of Willow Road, March 7. Front door damaged, 600 block of Sand Hill Circle, March 7. Tires slashed, 1300 block of El Camino Real, March 9. Storage locker damaged, 1100 block of Willow Road, March 9.
Burglaries:
** Someone stole a stereo and equalizer from a vehicle in the 200 block
of Newbridge Street on March 7 after smashing a window.
** Someone stole two credit cards and three checks from a purse in the 800 block of Coleman Avenue on March 11.
Vehicle thefts: Vehicle reported stolen, 1300 block of Carlton Avenue, March 5.
Petty thefts: DMV registration tabs stolen, 1100 block of Willow Road, March 7. Phone equipment stolen, 800 block of Coleman Avenue, March 9. Personal music player stolen, 1200 block of Mills Street, March 11.
Woodside
Accident: A teen-age motorcyclist was taken to Stanford Hospital on March 5 after he lost control of his motorcycle while going around a curve in the 100 block of Crest Drive and slid off of the road striking a wall.
Nuisance report: A horse owner's ex-boyfriend threatened to let the owner's horses out of their stalls in the 100 block of Greer Road on or before March 5. The horse owner discovered some horses were loose on the property and was able to put them back.
Vandalism: Someone damaged a vehicle that was parked in a driveway in the 100 block of Mountain Home Road on or before March 6.
Vehicle theft: Vehicle reported stolen, 4200 block of Farm Hill Blvd, March 6.
Portola Valley
Accident: A driver who parked his vehicle at the intersection of Portola Road and Wyndham Drive on February 22 opened the driver's door without looking and a husband and wife on a two-seater bicycle, who could not stop in time, collided with the open door. The couple were taken to Stanford Hospital and treated for minor injuries.
Burglaries: Wallet stolen from locked vehicle, Willowbrook Drive and Alpine Road, March 4. Computer stolen, 200 block of Nathhorst Drive, March 5.
West Menlo Park
Burglaries: Tools stolen from storage shed, 1800 block of Valparaiso Avenue, March 8.
