Menlo College president resigns Menlo College president resigns (March 17, 2004)

James Waddell, the president of Menlo College in Atherton since 1994, announced he will resign at the end of June.

During his tenure, Mr. Waddell led initiatives that increased enrollment, established the John D. Russell Center for International Management, and aided in the development of exchange relationships for faculty and students with international universities.

"President Waddell will be missed on campus and we all recognize and appreciate his past accomplishments," said Russell Frankel, chairman of the college's Board of Trustees.

An interim president will be named in the next two months, and a national search for a new president will begin in June, said Marty Ummel, Menlo's vice president of college relations.

Mr. Waddell is leaving to pursue writing, teaching and research in art, religion and philosophy.
