Marimba concert at Woodside Priory School Marimba concert at Woodside Priory School (March 17, 2004)

Classical marimbist Naoko Takada will be the guest artist in the finale of the Woodside Priory School's Young Concert Artists' series at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 25, in the school chapel.

A gathering with hot cider and a cheery fire in the campus reception room will follow the hour-long concert. The event is free and open to the public. A response to preed@woodsidepriory.com is requested.

Ms. Takada won first prize in the 2002 Young Concert Artists (YCA) international auditions. Since then, she has performed at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., the Gardiner Museum in Boston, and the 92nd Street Y in New York, in addition to performing with symphony orchestras and in college venues.

She is the last of three classical guest artists to appear at Woodside Priory School this year through an arrangement with YCS, a New York-based nonprofit organization that supports the careers of young musicians. The musicians spend a day as "artist in residence" on the campus and perform in a private concert for the school community and in a public concert.

Woodside Priory is a Benedictine Catholic college preparatory day and boarding school located at 302 Portola Road in Portola Valley. For information, check www.woodsidepriory.com.
