Q. From an eighth-grade class at Hillview: Does Menlo Park have a curfew for juveniles?

A. We don't use the term "curfew." We use a standard of what is reasonable. When we discover young people out very late, we have an obligation to check on their welfare. We may ask why they are out at such an hour. We often take the extra step and confirm with their parents the reason they are out.
