(March 31, 2004) This information is from the Atherton and Menlo Park police departments and the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office. Under the law, people charged with offenses are considered innocent until convicted.
Atherton
Petty thefts: Duffel bags stolen from swim meet at Aquatic Center, 100 block of Valparaiso Avenue, March 25. Five rose bushes stolen, first block of Ralston Road, on or before March 24.
Menlo Park
Spousal abuse: Daniel Joshua, 42, was arrested in the 800 block of Coleman Avenue and booked into county jail on March 25.
Grand theft: Gift cards stolen from Nativity School, 1200 block of Laurel Street, March 25.
Fraud: Credit card fraud, 400 block of Santa Rita Avenue, March 20. Identity theft, 500 block of Cotton Street, March 20. Check forged at Wells Fargo Bank, 700 block of Santa Cruz Avenue, March 22.
Vandalism: Someone poured paint on vehicle, 500 block of Laurel Avenue, March 19. Items burned in lost-and-found cart, Hillview School, March 19. Fence damaged by vehicle, 1200 block of Johnson Street, March 25. Rear vehicle windows reported broken on March 22 in: 700 block of Nash Avenue, 400 block of Ivy Drive and 500 block of Bay Road.
Petty thefts: Two bicycles taken from train station, 200 block of Robin Way, March 19. Bicycle stolen, Hamilton Avenue and Willow Road, March 23.
Woodside
Grand theft: Vehicle stolen from parking lot, Canada College, March 16. Bicycle stolen, 3100 block of Woodside Road, March 19. Wallet and cell phone stolen, 100 block of Glenwood Avenue, March 20.
Portola Valley
Injury: A woman said she was bitten by a dog while jogging on a trail in the 3900 block of Alpine Road on March 20. The woman said that the dog owner told her that the dogs were up-to-date on their vaccines and walked away. Other joggers reported similar such incidents, said police.
Auto burglary: Purse stolen from vehicle, 500 block of Portola Road, March 21.
Ladera
Possession of controlled substance: Jason S. Seidman, 18, was arrested on March 18 in the 300 block of La Cuesta Drive on charges of possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute.
