Menlo Park police arrested two suspects March 25 in an identify theft case involving false use of the name of San Francisco 49ers running back Kevan Barlow.

Police arrested Marc Anthony Alexander, 23, of Redwood City on March 25 on charges of identity theft, commercial burglary, possession of stolen property and conspiracy. Mr. Alexander is in custody at the San Mateo County jail in lieu of $500,000 bail.

Also arrested and booked into county jail on the same day was Lakesha Mullins, 20, of San Jose on charges of identity theft, grand theft, passing a bad check and conspiracy, police said. Ms. Mullins' bail was set at $750,000.

Expensive vehicles had been purchased in Mr. Barlow's name, as had an up-scale Redwood City apartment, said Detective Bill Massey. Mr. Barlow and the National Football League participated in the investigation, Detective Massey said.
