Portola Valley meeting on rebuilding Town Center
Portola Valley meeting on rebuilding Town Center
(March 31, 2004) Moving forward on the project to rebuild Portola Valley's town office complex -- including administrative offices, the library and a multi-use room -- the Town Council has called a special meeting for 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, to hear short presentations from three or four architectural firms competing to design the buildings.
The meeting will be held in the Historic Schoolhouse at 765 Portola Road.
The architectural firm chosen by the council will oversee a design process -- called a "charrette" -- that will bring together a group of design professionals who will collaborate with interested members of the public to create a master plan, phase-by-phase diagrams, cost analyses and images of the buildings, all to be shown publicly at an open house.
The charrette is planned to take place over four days and evenings sometime this summer, according to previous council statements.
In seeking an architectural firm, the town sent out 31 informational packets; about 10 firms responded with cost estimates, said Town Administrator Angie Howard.
