This information is from the Atherton and Menlo Park police departments and the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office. Under the law, people charged with offenses are considered innocent until convicted.


Grand theft: Two laptops were stolen from the O'Brien dormitory at Menlo College on April 9.

Fraud: Credit card fraud reported, 600 block of Placitas Avenue, April 13.

Vandalism: Construction vehicle vandalized, intersection of Alejandra Avenue and Brittany Meadows, April 15.

Burglaries: Someone smashed a window to the admissions building at Menlo School on April 11, broke into a faculty office and stole items that had been confiscated from students.

Menlo Park

Battery: A mother reported on April 13 that her 9-year-old daughter was assaulted by a classmate at Flood School during school hours on April 11.

Vehicle accident: Two vehicles collided in the 300 block of Middlefield Road on April 14 around 3:30 p.m. One driver was taken to Stanford Medical Center with a complaint of neck and back pain.

Grand theft: Bicycle stolen from residence, 100 block of Campo Bello, April 11.

Fraud: ** Someone reported fraudulent charges on a credit card in the 800 block of Evergreen Street on April 9.
** Someone passed bad checks in excess of $14,000 in the 600 block of Santa Cruz Avenue on April 14.

Vandalism: Vehicle window broken, 1100 block of Sevier Avenue, April 11.

Petty thefts: Cash and credit cards taken from vehicle, 1900 block of Menalto Avenue, April 10. License plate stolen, 1100 block of O'Brien Drive, April 12.
License plate stolen, 3600 block of Haven Court, April 13.


** A driver in the 1300 block of La Honda Road lost control of his vehicle and hit a telephone pole when a deer ran in front of his vehicle on March 31.
** Two vehicles collided at a stop sign on April 7 near the intersection of Canada Road and Jefferson Avenue when the rear vehicle was unable to stop due to speed, according to police. One of the drivers was taken to Stanford Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.

Grand theft: Right front tire and wheel removed from backhoe, 4000 block of Woodside Drive, April 12.

** Two parked cars were scratched at Canada College on April 7.
** A rear window of a vehicle was smashed in the 4200 block of Jefferson Avenue on April 13.

Burglary: Someone broke into a trailer in the 500 block of Albion Avenue through a window and stole a computer on April 8.

Portola Valley

Burglary: Jewelry was stolen from a residence in the first block of Coalmine View on April 8.
