USGS lecture celebrates 50 years of geology in MP
(April 21, 2004) For 50 years, the U.S. Geological Survey in Menlo Park has been a focus of activity and knowledge of earthquakes, volcanoes, geology of planets, maps, strategic minerals, San Francisco Bay and the Pacific Ocean.
Research geologist David Howell will address these topics and more in the April public lecture at the USGS at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 22, in Building 3 on the Menlo Park campus at 345 Middlefield Road.
In his talk on "Science, Society, and the Survey," Mr. Howell will address the scientific highlights of the USGS's Western Region Center from 1954 to 2004.
