Attempted sexual assault foiled in Menlo Attempted sexual assault foiled in Menlo (May 05, 2004)

A resident of the 1200 block of Carlton Avenue escaped a possible sexual assault Tuesday, April 27, when she fled from her home after an unknown man armed with a handgun forced his way inside, police said.

At approximately 2 p.m., the woman, who was home alone, answered a knock on her door. When she answered, a man pulled out a handgun and entered the house, said Sgt. Matt Bacon of the Menlo Park Police Department.

The woman somehow escaped and called police from a neighbor's house.

Menlo Park police surrounded the house and a SWAT team entered it, but did not find the man, said Sgt. Bacon.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call Detective Ron Albertson at 330-6361.
