Caption with Carol Ivie photo in print edition: Volunteer Lucy Lanza of Gunn High School really digs in as she plants natives around the newly rebuilt and reopened bike bridge across San Francisquito Creek between Willow Place in Menlo Park and Waverly Street in Palo Alto. In projects sponsored by the San Francisquito Watershed Council -- a project of Acterra -- volunteers work up and down the creek and its tributaries to remove exotic plants and replace them with natives grown in the watershed.
