A stitch in time A stitch in time (May 05, 2004)

Caption with Carol Ivie photo in print edition: Ryan Burger got a lesson in knitting as fifth-graders at Woodside Elementary School time-traveled to the past on April 23. The knitting lesson was part of the school's annual Colonial Day, a grade-5 social studies tradition that also included a lunch featuring food of the era, Colonial-era games and role-playing, and art projects. Kids also assembled herbal medicine bags, learning about fresh herbs and how they're used as remedies. Parent Kathi Dancer added a notable touch to the day by arriving at the school in a horse-drawn buggy.
