Members of the public interested in developing affordable housing in San Mateo County are invited to apply for a position on the county's new Housing Endowment and Trust (HEAT).

HEAT is a public-private partnership devoted to raising and distributing funds to increase the county's supply of permanently affordable housing. It has a 21-member board, including 10 at-large directors from the private sector.

At-large directors will be selected to reflect a spectrum of people with a stake in housing. Categories include: labor; nonprofit developers, real estate, business, foundations, housing advocacy groups, financial sector, faith community, and school districts -- as well as the people needing the housing.
