Portola Valley holds artists, authors fair
(May 12, 2004) The Portola Valley Cultural Arts Committee is sponsoring a local authors and artists fair at the Town Center, 765 Portola Road, on Saturday and Sunday, May 15 and 16, from 11 to 4 p.m.
Seventeen area artists will have their work -- paintings, sculpture, jewelry, prints, ceramics and photography -- on display on the green at Town Center. Artists Kalani Engles, Betty Estersohn, Sally Kunstadter, Bonnie Novesky, Sean McGinn Smith and Adele Seltzer will open their studios at Town Center for visits. The Portola Valley Art Gallery, located at Town Center, also will be open.
There will be an opportunity to purchase limited edition wildflowers prints by the late Herb Dengler.
In addition, the public will have a chance to meet several local authors, such as Dr. Walter Bortz, who has written about good health and longevity; and Mary O'Shaughnessy, who writes mysteries with her sister, Pamela, as Perri O'Shaughnessy. New releases by local authors Sheila Ellison and David Laws will be available.
The committee's goal is to create a permanent collection of works by local authors. Donated and autographed by the authors, the works will be kept in a special collection at the Portola Valley Library.
Local authors who have not been contacted, are invited to call the town of Portola Valley at 851-1700, ext. 58, for information.
During the event, there will be wine tasting, compliments of Thomas Fogarty Winery.
