PV Council to consider membership in housing trust

At its May 12 meeting, the Portola Valley Town Council may decide to join the Housing Endowment and Trust of San Mateo County, which seeks membership from all county localities.

A proposed goal of the trust is to raise $100 million over 10 years through sources that include state housing bond funds, voter-approved county housing bonds, and direct contributions of member municipalities, county Supervisor Rich Gordon has said. The money would be used to build high-density housing along transportation corridors such as Caltrain.

The county is a trust member, as are nine of the county's 20 cities and towns, including Atherton, Menlo Park and East Palo Alto.
