This information is from the Atherton and Menlo Park police departments and the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office. Under the law, people charged with offenses are considered innocent until convicted.
Atherton
Battery: Battery occurred near the intersection of El Camino Real and Fair Oaks Lane on May 13.
Grand theft: Someone took a laptop computer worth $3,000 from a vehicle in the 100 block of Watkins Avenue on May 8.
Grand theft auto: Someone was arrested on May 8 on charges of stealing a car from the intersection of El Camino Real and Cambridge Avenue, after a police pursuit that ended with the person fleeing the vehicle and being found later when police set up a perimeter.
Burglary: Someone reported on May 10 that sometime over the weekend someone entered a job trailer at a construction site in the first block of Euclid Avenue, ransacked and spray painted the interior, and entered the house that was under construction.
Petty thefts: Cell phone taken, Menlo-Atherton High School, May 10.
Menlo Park
Hit-and-run: Someone drove into a parked car in the 700 block of Santa Cruz Avenue on May 9.
Battery: A man reported on May 11 that someone punched him in the face while he was panhandling near the intersection of Alma Street and Oak Grove Avenue.
Fraud: Counterfeit cash passed, 900 block of Willow Road, May 7. Possible check fraud, 600 block of Santa Cruz Avenue, May 9. Fraudulent check cashed, 800 block of Newbridge Street, May 11.
Vandalism: A resident of the 1100 block of O'Brien Drive reported on May 13 that tree trimmers damaged his vehicle with a branch.
Burglaries:
** Someone stole a bicycle from a garage in the 400 block of Bay Road on May 7.
** Larry Fuller, 47, of East Palo Alto was arrested on burglary charges on May 7 in the 1000 block of Alma Street and taken to county jail.
** Someone broke into a residence in the 300 block of Haight Street on May 9 and stole personal items.
** Someone stole personal property from a residence in the 1100 block of Noel Avenue on May 13.
Vehicle theft: Vehicle stolen from Hallmark Circle, May 8.
Auto burglary: A laptop was taken from a vehicle in the 1300 block of Hobart Street on May 12.
Petty thefts: Bicycle stolen, 1100 block of El Camino Real, May 7. License plate stolen, 1000 block of Ringwood Avenue, May 7. Items taken from unlocked vehicle, 500 block of Gilbert Avenue, May 8. License plate taken, 1200 block of Willow Road, May 11. License plate taken, 1100 block of Carlton Avenue, May 12. Gun stolen from vehicle, 1200 Sevier Avenue, May 12. Property removed from vehicle, 300 block of Trenton Way, May 8. Rear license plate taken, 200 block of Terminal Avenue, May 12.
Woodside
Elder abuse: Peter Wallace, 43, of Woodside was arrested in the 3300 block of Woodside Drive on May 7.
Arson: Someone set fire to a stolen vehicle in the 100 block of Woodside Drive on May 2.
Grand theft: Someone stole furniture from a house that was for sale in the 800 block of La Honda Road on May 5.
Burglary: Someone stole cash from a locked cashbox at Canada College on April 20.
Portola Valley
Grand theft: Someone reported on May 10 that a soccer goal net was stolen from the 4500 block of Alpine Road.
