A Menlo Park man was arrested May 19 after ordering his dogs to attack Menlo Park police officers checking on a domestic disturbance at the man's residence, police said.
Officers arrived at the house in the 200 block of Market Place at about 4:50 a.m. and found Raymond Johnson, 45, arguing with his brother, said Sgt. Paul Kunkel of the Menlo Park Police Department.
Police said Mr. Johnson, 45, brought two large Rottweilers into the house and gave the dogs an order to attack, and both charged toward an officer, who kicked at one and told Mr. Johnson that if he did not call them off, he would shoot them.
Mr. Johnson called off the dogs, but police said he then threatened and fought with the officers. No one was injured and the dogs were turned over to the Peninsula Humane Society.
Mr. Johnson was booked into the San Mateo County jail on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, threatening a peace officer and resisting arrest.
