Alpine Little League: Battle for second place Alpine Little League: Battle for second place (May 26, 2004)

The battle for second place in the Apine-West Little League is hotly contested between Hengehold (9-6-0), Stanford Park Hotel (8-6-0) Morey's (8-7-0) and Peak Performance (8-7-0) as of May 22.

Here are some game highlights:

** Peak Performance trailed Hengehold into the fourth inning 6-2, but fought back for a 7-6 victory. Garrett Prioste hit a two-run home run in the fifth for Peak to tie the game at 6-6. Luke Carrino hit a sacrifice fly in the 6th inning for the game winner. Avi Shah pitched three great innings to keep Peak in the game.

** Stanford Park Hotel knocked off first-place Professional Insurance 5-4 on May 17 at La Entrada field. Matt Cox led Stanford Park, which hit four singles up the middle in the third inning; Phil Mayer and Jesus Gomez hit for the Pro's to tie the score. In the fifth inning, Reed Foster hit a sacrifice fly to score Michael York to make it 5-4, while the Pro's threw out Chris Aiken at third to end the inning. Reed Foster kept the Pro's scoreless in the fifth and sixth.

** Luticken defeated the Pro's 5-4 on May 22, completing a March 29 game that had been called for darkness.
