Middle-schoolers stage 'Fiddler'
(June 02, 2004) Menlo's Middle School will stage "Fiddler on the Roof" this weekend -- June 4, 5 and 6 -- in the Middle School's Commons, 50 Valparaiso Ave. in Atherton
Drama teacher Alex Perez directs the cast of sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders in the performances at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and at 1 p.m. Sunday. Tickets, at $10 for adults and $5 for students, may be purchased at tickets@menloschool.org.
The musical features Tevye, a poor dairyman, who tries to instill in his five daughters the traditions of his tight-knit Jewish community in the face of changing social mores and the growing anti-Semitism of Czarist Russia.
The score by Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick includes songs such as "If I Were a Rich Man," "Matchmaker," and "Sunrise, Sunset."
