It will be a nail-biting finish to the season this week, June 1-5, as Alpine-West Menlo Little League pits the top teams against each other to fight for second, third and fourth place. Professional Insurance (Pro's) holds first place with a record of 14-2, but second place is hotly contended between Hengehold, Partners and Stanford Park Hotel -- all at 9-7.
Still vying for upper-division playoff spots, and not out of the running, are Morey's and Peak Performance, both at 8-8.
Game highlights: On May 24, Stanford Park moved into the second-place tie by beating Homefield Advantage, 9-2. On May 25, the Pro's prevailed over Morey's, 3-2, on Brennan Kurtela's home run, knocking Morey's out of the second-place tie. On May 26, Partners secured a spot in the three-way tie for second place by beating Hengehold, 4-1.
On June 1 at Ford Field in Portola Valley, Hengehold faces off against Stanford Park at 5:30pm. On June 3 at Ford Field, the Pro's play Partners at 5:30 pm.
These two exciting games will create a must-win situation for the contenders going into the Saturday, June 5, final games of the season, to be played at both Ford Field and La Entrada, starting at 9 a.m.
