The Menlo Park free summer concert series opens its 2004 season with a performance by the Menlo-Atherton High School jazz band at 1 p.m. Sunday, June 27, at Fremont Park.

Free ice cream sundaes will be served at the park, located at the intersection of Santa Cruz Avenue and University Drive, in keeping with the yearly tradition of "Sundaes on Sundays."

In addition to the monthly Sunday concerts are the weekly Wednesday evening events -- the "Twilight Concerts" -- held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. from June 30 through August 18. People are invited to bring picnic dinners.

Other "Sundaes on Sunday" performances, held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., are:

** Wally's Swing World, playing 1940s swing, 1950s rock and Latin jazz, July 25.

** Tom Rigney and Flambeau, American roots style with blues, ballads and waltzes, August 15.
