Menlo Park man is shot, killed at party
Menlo Park man is shot, killed at party
(June 23, 2004) In Menlo Park's second homicide this year, a 21-year-old man was shot and killed outside a large party in the Belle Haven neighborhood on the night of June 19, police said.
Travis Quesada of Menlo Park was shot multiple times in the street in the 1300 block of Hill Avenue and was dead by the time police arrived around 11:30 p.m., Menlo Park Police Sgt. Matt Bacon said.
A second man had minor injuries after being shot in the hand, Sgt. Bacon said. It appears that the man was hit by a "stray bullet" from the same shooter, he said. He was treated at a local hospital and released.
Saying that the case is under investigation, Sgt. Bacon would not give more details about the second victim or say where on the body Mr. Quesada was shot. He said he did not know whether the shooting was gang-related.
Police describe the suspect in the shooting as a thin African-American man in dark clothing, 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall.
In the previous homicide in Menlo Park this year, 45-year-old Rodolfo Gonzalez was shot and killed in April by two robbers in his Hollyburne Avenue driveway, police said. No one has been arrested in that case, Sgt. Bacon said. Mr. Gonzalez was Menlo Park's first homicide victim since 1999, according to police records.
