Moving day is fast approaching for the Menlo Park City School District, which will move its office to a temporary site during construction and remodeling of its headquarters at Encinal School in Atherton.
The office will close from June 28 through June 30 and re-open July 1 in interim space at 126 Constitution Drive, east of Bayshore Freeway and off Marsh Road. The 10,000-square-feet is being provided rent-free to the district by the Bohannon Development Co.
"They're saving the district money that can be put directly into student services," said Superintendent Ken Ranella.
Mr. Ranella said David Bohannon, a parent in the Menlo Park district, contacted him after learning the district needed temporary space.
Plans for remodeling and adding to the current district office will be discussed at the school board meeting that starts at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 23, in the district office. The agenda includes adoption of the district's 2004-05 fiscal year budget.
Demolition could begin in mid-July, with construction starting in August and completion expected by early January, said Mr. Ranella.
The district phone number, 321-7140, and mailing address -- 181 Encinal Ave., Atherton -- will remain the same. During construction, school board and other meetings will rotate among the four schools: Encinal, Laurel, Oak Knoll and Hillview.
