Q. Are the "Menlo Chronicles" on your department's Web site all true stories? And did the officers write the accounts, or did you?

A. Yes, the "Chronicles" are all true stories. The names of characters who are not police officers have been changed, but the actions and reactions of the officers involved are all true. You might think that most officers would enjoy sharing the stories of their exploits. On the contrary, getting officers to recount these tales is like pulling teeth. They'd rather just forget the incidents. The officers described the incidents, and I wrote down their accounts as closely as I could. Enter "Menlo Chronicles" in Google to find the site.
