Three scouts achieve Eagle rank
Three scouts achieve Eagle rank
(July 07, 2004) Three Boy Scouts from Troop 222, sponsored by the Menlo Park Presbyterian Church, recently achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest in scouting, in part due to their service projects. The scouts and their projects are:
** Brandon Wiebe, 18, a graduate of Woodside High School, worked on a conservation project at Edgewood Park in Redwood City that involved replacing a 40-foot retaining wall and replanting native plants.
** Forrest Scott, 18, a graduate of Foothill Middle College, constructed a footbridge that is 35 feet long and 12 feet wide at Hidden Villa, a farm and wilderness preserve in the Los Altos Hills.
** Stefan Hermannsson, 19, a graduate of Junipero Serra High School, built a bench out of completely green building materials around a large oak tree at Northstar Academy in Redwood City.
In the fall, Forrest will attend Foothill College; Brandon will attend Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon; and Stefan will enter his sophomore year at the University of Vermont.
The Menlo Park Presbyterian Church has sponsored Troop 222 since 1953. There are 40 boys in the troop, ages 11 to 17.
