Sharn Wordley wins Woodside Grand Prix
(July 14, 2004) In last week's Bay Area Festival held June 30 to July 4 at the Horse Park in Woodside, Sharn Wordley of New Zealand rode his horse, Gorki, to win in the $20,000 Grand Prix.
Twenty-nine horses competed over a 14-obstacle course on the undulating jumper field. Mr. Wordley's Gorki was the winner with a time of 26.448 seconds.
Alicia Jonsson of San Mateo came in second in the Grand Prix, which is the highest level of show jumping.
In other action, Carrie Robinson of Atherton swept the amateur owner hunters for riders in the 18-to-35 age group by winning all five classes and the championship with her horse, Ballari.
Amika, owned by K.C. Kelley of Woodside, was green working hunter champion.
The show was the second in the Woodside summer circuit three-week series at the Horse Park, located on Sand Hill Road, just west of Interstate 280.
