M-A Little League: Lutticken's, all-stars field teams for July 4th contest M-A Little League: Lutticken's, all-stars field teams for July 4th contest (July 14, 2004)

By Chandler Eason
Little League Coach

Menlo-Atherton Little League continued its July Fourth baseball game tradition by having their Major's division winner, Lutticken's, play the league's 11/12 year old All-Stars at Willow Field in Menlo Park.

The Menlo Park city championship game is usually played on July Fourth with the winner of the Menlo-Atherton Majors division facing the winner of the Alpine-West Menlo Majors division. Alpine declined to play this year so that it could concentrate on its All-Star team.

The Lutticken's team was made up of John Athens (11 year old All-Star), John Braskamp (9/10 year old All-Star), Tommy Cummings (11-year- old All-Star), Casey Eason (11-year-old All-Star), Riley Fallon, Nils Gilbertson (12-year-old All-Star), Casey Monroe (12-year-old All-Star), Tom Schertler, Chace Warren (11-year-old All-Star), Michael Abramson (11-year-old All-Star and a substitute from Anderson's) and Gabe Kaplan (a Superbowl Minors player and substitute from AAA division).

The 11/12 All-Star team was made up of Phillip Anderson, Charlie Bradford, Tyler Estkowski, Reid Gaa, Chris Gaertner, Wally Hanson, Jeff Keller, Tyler Moragne, Alex Neylan, Tomas O'Donnell and Peyton Smith.

Pitching for Lutticken's was Casey Monroe and Tom Schertler. Pitching for the 11/12 All-Stars were Wally Hansen, Tyler Moragne and Tyler Eskowski. By Little League's rules, the All-Star pitchers were not allowed to pitch in this July Fourth game.

Tomas O'Donnell hit a line-drive rocket for a home run over the center field wall in the first inning. Reid Gaa had a stand-up double and Philip Anderson was on base four times. The 12 year old All-Stars won the game 14-2.
