Calling all actors and singers: TheatreWorks is holding open auditions in August.

The Menlo Park-based professional theater company is seeking new talent for its musicals, comedies and dramas. Both Equity and non-Equity actors are welcome.

Performers are asked to call between July 26 and August 10 to request an audition appointment, casting director Leslie Martinson said. Auditions will take place on August 19, 21 and 23 at 1940 Colony St. in Mountain View.

Those auditioning will perform a short memorized monologue and, for musicals, a brief song. Children must be at least 8 years old.

Ms. Martinson said performers of color are particularly encouraged to audition, as TheatreWorks has a "history of multicultural programming and nontraditional casting."
