Woodside author wins award
(July 14, 2004) Betsy Clebsch's book, "The New Book of Salvias: Sages for Every Garden," has won the 2004 Garden Globe award for writing from the Garden Writers Association.
The Woodside author's book is an expanded edition of her first book, "A Book of Salvias," and contains listings of 50 new plants and nearly 100 more photos and illustrations.
Salvias, commonly known as sages, grow throughout temperate and subtropical parts of the world and occur in many forms. The varied plants are noted for their resistance to pests and diseases, and for their drought tolerance and beautiful flowers.
The Garden Globe awards will be presented September 13 at the 56th annual Garden Writers Symposium at the Melville Marriott Hotel in Long Island, New York.
