Election 2004: New name in Menlo council race
(August 11, 2004) A new face has cropped up in the race for the Menlo Park City Council: resident Andrew Cohen, who took out nomination papers on August 9, just before the Almanac's deadline.
Would-be candidates have until August 11 to file their papers with the City Clerk's office, and two have already filed: Planning Commissioner Lorie Sinnott and architect Michael Lambert.
The third announced candidate, Planning Commissioner Kelly Fergusson, has an August 10 appointment to file her papers, City Clerk Silvia Vonderlinden said.
Mr. Cohen could not be reached for comment before the Almanac went to press Monday.
Two four-year terms on the five-member council will be on the ballot in November, and incumbents Paul Collacchi and Chuck Kinney have said they won't run again. The deadline for filing papers would have been August 6, but since the incumbents aren't running it has been pushed to 5 p.m. August 11. Call 330-6620 for more information.
