Dog park group seeks new members
A new committee in Menlo Park is seeking residents to help it look into developing a permanent off-leash dog area in the city.
Previously, an off-leash area was tested out at Nealon Park on Middle Avenue for four months, until it was closed for renovation. That site got mixed reviews: some residents favored it, while some neighbors had noise and other complaints.
The committee, which includes Menlo Park residents, Parks and Recreation commissioners and city staff, meets regularly to develop a recommendation for the Parks and Recreation Commission on October 20. For more information about joining the committee, call 330-2245.
Council meeting is canceled
The Menlo Park City Council has canceled its Tuesday, August 10, meeting to allow the council a summer break. Meetings will resume on August 17 in the council chambers at 801 Laurel St.
Free compost for Menlo residents
Starting at 9 a.m. on Saturday, September 11, residents of the city of Menlo Park can pick up free compost at Bayfront Park at Marsh Road and Bayfront Expressway. Residents should bring containers and shovels to pick up the material from a big pile that will be left there.
Additional compost dates will be scheduled in October and November, city officials said.
