Rosa Perez to talk about her life Rosa Perez to talk about her life (August 11, 2004)

Rosa Perez, the president of Canada College in Woodside, has at least a couple of firsts to her credit.

At the City College of San Francisco, Ms. Perez, at age 25, was the youngest person to be appointed dean of a California community college, said Canada spokesman Robert Hood. When she advanced to vice president at CCSF, she was the first Latina statewide to be appointed to that position, Mr. Hood said.

At 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 17, at the San Mateo County History Museum, Ms. Perez, 53, will talk about her life and times, including a childhood spent in San Francisco's Mission district and in El Salvador, and a youth as an activist for civil and farm workers' rights.

The History Museum is located at 777 Hamilton St. in downtown Redwood City. Admission to Ms. Perez's talk is free; admission to the museum is $4 for adults and $2 for seniors. For more information, call 299-0104.
