Dressage champ will appear at Red Barn Festival Aug. 21
(August 11, 2004) U.S. Dressage Foundation champion Nicole Perry will be among the riders at the 15th annual Red Barn Festival at the Stanford Equestrian Center on Saturday, August 21.
Ms. Perry is resident trainer at Golden Oak Dressage at the Portola Valley Training Center, 100 Ansel Lane in Menlo Park. She will give a demonstration on her champion stallion Rubino.
The festival, to be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., will feature opening ceremonies by the San Mateo County Mounted Patrol. The program, "A Day on the Farm," will have demonstrations of various riding activities, including jumping, dressage, driving and vaulting. Horse breeds on display will include miniature horses, Arabians, Thoroughbreds, Morgans, Clydesdales, Percherons and Warmbloods.
There will be a petting zoo, pony rides and a display of antique carriages. The Woodside Vaulters will give a vaulting exhibit.
From 5:30 to 10:30 p.m. there will be a buffet barbecue catered by Armadillo Willy's, plus Western dancing and a live auction. Among the auction items will be a vacation for two at Tanaku Lodge in Alaska; a cocktail bash at the Stanford Faculty Club for 20, hosted by Jean and Bill Lane; and a week in the "Women and Horses Program" at Horse Prairie Ranch in Montana.

Jean and Bill Lane of Portola Valley are once again honorary chairmen emeritus of the festival.
The festival takes place at the Stanford Equestrian Center on Electioneer Drive, near the intersection of Campus Drive West and Junipero Serra Boulevard, on the Stanford University campus. It benefits the historic Leland Stanford Stables, with a portion of the proceeds going to the Ecumenical Hunger Program in East Palo Alto.
General admission tickets will be available at the gate at $10 for adults and
$5 for children 6 and over. Children under 6 are admitted free. For more
