Caption with Carol Ivie photo in print edition: The large trees that were neighbors of Sand Hill Road on the Stanford Golf Course (to the right of the road) were recently removed as part of the latest construction work on the Sand Hill expansion project. A fairway is also being scraped and graded to make way for new traffic lanes, altering holes 3 and 4. This photo was taken from the corner of Sand Hill and Santa Cruz Avenue looking east.
