Man stabbed to death after fight with wife Man stabbed to death after fight with wife (August 11, 2004)

A 21-year-old Menlo Park man was found stabbed to death and his wife seriously injured August 8 after the two apparently got in a fight with each other, police said.

Police found Jose Ernesto Arita and his wife, Blanca Estella Rivas, 23, in their Hamilton Avenue home around 6:30 p.m., said Sgt. Matt Bacon of the Menlo Park Police Department. Ms. Rivas, who had also been stabbed, was taken to a local hospital, he said.

Because the incident is still under investigation, Sgt. Bacon would not provide any other details. Anyone with information related to the case is asked to call Detective Bill Massey at 330-6363 or the police department's anonymous tip line at 330-6395.

This was the third reported homicide in the city this year, Sgt. Bacon said.

In June, Travis Quesada, 21, of Menlo Park was shot and killed outside a Belle Haven party. A few weeks later, Jailee Shan Fontenot, 22, of Menlo Park was arrested and charged with his death.

No one has yet been arrested in the April shooting of Rodolfo Gonzales, who police said was killed by two robbers in his Hollyburne Avenue driveway. Police are still seeking witnesses in that case; anyone with information can call Detective Massey or the anonymous tip line.
