Another motorcyclist killed on Highway 84 Another motorcyclist killed on Highway 84 (August 25, 2004)

An accident on Highway 84 claimed the life of another motorcyclist over the weekend.

Benjamin Cantwell, 25, of Mountain View was pronounced dead by the San Mateo County coroner after a crash in which the motorcycles of Mr. Cantwell and Roy Stephens Jr., 36, of San Jose, slammed into the side of a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck that was negotiating a U-turn near Old La Honda Road shortly after 5 p.m. Sunday, August 22, the California Highway Patrol reported.

Both men were ejected from their motorcycles, the CHP said. A Life Flight helicopter took Mr. Stephens to Stanford Hospital with major back and neck injuries. The driver of the truck, Michele Bellamy, 52, of La Honda, was taken to Peninsula Hospital as a precautionary measure, the CHP said.

Anyone with information regarding the collision should call CHP Officer O'Day in Redwood City at 369-6261.

On August 6, La Honda resident Steven John Honholt, 38, died after his motorcycle collided with a truck on Highway 84 near Old La Honda Road.
