Ask the officer Ask the officer (September 22, 2004)

Menlo Park police officer Glenn J. Raggio answers questions about the police and law enforcement. Call 330-6396, or e-mail: asktheofficer@menlopark.org.

Q. Should people call police about loose or barking dogs?

A. Yes. A loose dog is a hazard for motorists and especially the dog. As for barking dogs, we prefer you contact the dog's owner before you call police. Neighbors seem to work these things out better than police do. When neighbors don't agree on what's tolerable, police should be called.
