Jackling house's new home? Jackling house's new home? (October 06, 2004)

Woodside residents Anne and Timothy Chuter are hoping to take up Steve Jobs on his offer to give away the historic Daniel C. Jackling house and relocate it on their Valley Court property.

The Chuters are set to appear before Woodside's Planning Commission on October 20 to ask for a variance to the town's size and height limits in order to accommodate the enormous 1926 Spanish Colonial revival-style mansion.

The variance hearing was originally scheduled for the commission's October 6 meeting, but was continued to the later date.

Even if the variance is granted, however, the house's fate is far from sealed. An appeal of the Planning Commission's decision to allow the Jackling house to be moved or, failing that, demolished, is still pending.
