Las Lomitas centennial celebration events
(October 06, 2004) A weekend of Centennial celebration activity will bring students, parents, alumni, teachers, principals, and staff from 10 decades back to the two campuses of the Las Lomitas School District.
Saturday, October 16
Open house. La Entrada Middle School, 2200 Sharon Road, Menlo Park, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Tours of newly renovated classrooms, science labs, art rooms, multipurpose room, administration office and other facilities.
Carnival for kids. 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Popcorn, cotton candy, and lots of bouncing.
Lunch. 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Provided by Lutticken's deli. Tickets:
$10 per person, available on site or in advance via "Centennial Events"
on the district Web site (www.llesd.k12.ca.us)

Groundbreaking for new gymnasium. 1 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Governing board members and superintendent will don hardhats to kick off construction. Guest speaker: Rich Kelly, La Entrada graduate and former NBA player. Presentation of gift from the Las Lomitas League.
Roaring Back dance. 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. For adults only. Former
students and teachers will reminisce in Jensen Hall. La Entrada Library
will have an exhibit of 100 years of district memorabilia. Tickets: $15
per person; available on site or in advance via "Centennial Events" on

Sunday, October 17
Open house. Las Lomitas Elementary School, 299 Alameda de las Pulgas, Atherton. 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
School tours , from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., of new two-story classroom building and library/media center, as well as newly renovated classrooms, administration office and other facilities.
Official birthday ceremony. 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Resolutions of congratulations from the U.S. Congress, California Legislature, Menlo Park City Council, Atherton City Council, San Mateo County Board of Supervisors, and San Mateo County Board of Education. Birthday cake and lemonade.
