Menlo Watch: Traffic plan coming to Menlo council
(October 06, 2004) A citywide plan for managing traffic in Menlo Park has gone through the Transportation Commission and is heading to the City Council for approval. It is tentatively scheduled for the Tuesday, October 12, council meeting.
The plan would create a formalized process to deal with traffic issues, including verifying the need for traffic-calming in neighborhoods and working with residents to implement traffic-calming measures.
A major goal of the plan is enhancing traffic safety in residential streets, city staff said. Transportation commissioners voted 4-2 on August 11, with Don Brawner absent, to recommend that the council approve the plan with some changes.
The October 12 council meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the council chambers at 801 Laurel St.
Council holds closed session
The Menlo Park City Council meeting set for Tuesday, October 5, will be a closed session and therefore not open to the public. The council is scheduled to discuss labor contracts for the city's employees with union officials.
