Open space district seeks comment on coastal issues Open space district seeks comment on coastal issues (October 13, 2004)

The Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District wants to hear from the public about how the boundaries of its seven wards should be adjusted to include the 220 square miles of San Mateo County Coastside recently annexed to the district.

Several possibilities for redistricting will be presented for public comment at meetings over the next few weeks. Meetings beginning at 7 p.m. are scheduled for:

** Thursday, October 21, at the Comfort Inn (formerly Miramar Lodge), 2930 N. Cabrillo Highway, Half Moon Bay.

** Tuesday, October 26, the Russell Administration Center, 620 North Street in Pescadero.

** Thursday, November 4, at the district's field office, 21150 Skyline Boulevard, La Honda.

** Tuesday, November 9, at district headquarters, 330 Distel Circle, in Los Altos.

The district also wants advice from the public on what qualities its new volunteer ombudsperson should have to help resolve misunderstandings and conflicts that can't be settled by staff.

Constituents are invited to submit questions to put to the applicants during interviews starting Wednesday, October 20.

Questions may be submitted by FAX to 691-0485, or by e-mail to info@openspace.org. For other information, call 691-1200, or visit www.openspace.org.
