Housing conference Friday Housing conference Friday (October 20, 2004)

Housing in San Mateo County will be the topic at an all-day conference scheduled for Friday, October 22, in which Assembly candidates, county officials and housing advocates air their views on the need for sufficient housing, homelessness, childcare, and planning.

A prominent topic will be Measure Q, the initiative supporting a large condominium project at Pete's Harbor in Redwood City.

Expected to participate in the third annual Housing Leadership Day are county supervisors Mark Church, Rose Jacobs Gibson and Rich Gordon; Assembly candidates Steve Poizner and Ira Ruskin; and housing development experts.

Mr. Gordon and Ms. Gibson are to receive an award recognizing their efforts in creating the Housing Endowment and Regional Trust, a Joint Powers Authority composed of private and public entities, including local government representatives from Menlo Park, Atherton and Portola Valley.

The conference hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. at the Oracle Conference Center, located at 350 Oracle Park Way in Redwood City. Registration is $35 for members of the Housing Leadership Council and $50 for non-members.
