Caption with Carol Ivie photo in print edition: Workers became miniatures last week in comparison to a giant pre-cast concrete beam from Stanford University's Sand Hill Road project. The beam will support the new Sand Hill roadway/bridge going over San Francisquito Creek, Stanford officials said. The huge project also includes widening Sand Hill Road and making improvements to the intersections of Sand Hill and Santa Cruz Avenue, and Santa Cruz and Alpine Road.
