PV teachers, psychologist gain tenure PV teachers, psychologist gain tenure (November 03, 2004)

Six teachers and the psychologist in the Portola Valley School District have gained tenure, and now are part of the district's permanent staff.

The newly tenured teachers at Ormondale are Theresa Crespin, kindergarten, and Deena Gardyn, second grade.

At Corte Madera, they are Joan Dame, Spanish; Anne Gronet, fourth grade; Kate Hennessy, physical education; and Treena Joi, science.

School psychologist Julie Minter works with students and teachers at both schools.

Superintendent Anne Campbell recognized the seven at a recent board meeting, commending them for their accomplishments and commitment. She also offered some advice. "You absolutely have to have a sense of humor," she said, adding a favorite quote: "A day without laughter is a day wasted."

The seven completed a two-year probationary period in addition to having the required credentials. Now, 86 percent of the district's teaching staff of 50 has tenure.
