Menlo Park: Dog-park issue faces council Menlo Park: Dog-park issue faces council (November 10, 2004)

E-mails promoting and opposing off-leash dog hours in Menlo Park's parks have been filling up the City Council's in-box for weeks. This Tuesday, council members are expected to weigh in on the hot topic.

The city's Transportation Commission has recommended having off-leash hours at Nealon and Willow Oaks parks, and doing further study on whether to schedule hours at Burgess Park in the Civic Center.

Residents have been deeply divided, with dog owners pushing for a place to let canines run free and other residents worried about safety and noise problems.

The November 9 council meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the council chambers at 701 Laurel St. For more information, go to www.menlopark.org.
