Six teachers and staff people will be honored by the Portola Valley PTA on November 17 for their combined 115 years of service in the Portola Valley School District.

The Wednesday event starts at 6:30 p.m. in the multi-use room at Corte Madera School, 4575 Alpine Road.

Students -- past and present -- parents, teachers, staff and friends of the honorees are encouraged to attend. Light refreshments will be served.

The honorees are:

** Karen Hayes, kindergarten teacher at Ormondale, for 35 years in the district.

** Corte Madera's Virginia Downing, math teacher for 15 years, and Nancy Rhodes, fourth-grade teacher for 10 years.

** Head custodian Ray Martin for 25 years, administrative assistant MaryAnn Anderson for 20 years in the district office, and Jan Manzo, Ormondale school secretary for the past 10 years.

The regular meeting of the school board will be held in Room 1001 at Corte Madera after the annual recognition of service event.
